Bryce Canyon, UT

Spent last night in Green River, Utah after seeing Arches National Park. What an amazing place.

We were in Grand Junction, CO the night before and had a short drive to Arches. We got there about 11am, just in time for a long line at the entrance. Hint – arrive early to avoid the line! But it wasn’t so bad in the end and we got into the park just fine. As usual, we stopped by the Visitor Center to get our bearings and plan the attack. We were able to plan for 3 different walks in our short time there. Each walk was amazing with lots of wonderful picture opportunities.

After wonderful afternoon at Arches, we called the hotel to say we would be a little late and to get a restaurant suggestion. I won’t mention the restaurant because it turned out to be over priced and not worth the time. However, it was a learning experience. We had wanted steak after the long day and we learned that we didn’t really need a fancy meal to end the day. All good though. We did not (and will not!) go hungry.

We arrived at the hotel late last night and then started with some busy work early this morning, so we didn’t get to Bryce Canyon until almost 2pm. At that time it was starting to rain, so we looked around the Visitor Center for a while and then went to eat (see? we don’t go hungry!) and to rest at the hotel. The Bryce Canyon Visitor Center was a great treat with some very nice and informative displays. Also, we figured we would enjoy the park at sunset and maybe see some stars, so no need to wander in the cold and damp rain.

There was also a nice treat in Ruby’s Inn. We ate at the Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak Room and had a nice, and relatively inexpensive, meal. After that we wandered the Inn for a while and found wonderful crafts as well as a full grocery store and clothing store. Prices were a little higher than you would hope, but it’s understandable as both a tourist destination and somewhere well off the beaten path.

And that’s the last 2 days! There has been so much beautiful scenery that Vale has taken hundreds of pictures. She’s really struggling to limit her posts and I will probably have to review her memory card to make sure she has enough space to keep them all. But it’s all worth it. Beautiful scenery everywhere and we’ve been blessed with (overall) great weather. Truly a great trip.

All our best to all of you for reading this. Hope you are enjoying following our trip and are staying safe and healthy in this crazy time.

Ciao for now.
