Yesterday we spent the morning in Clovis, NM and then drove to Albuquerque for the night.
I went to High School for 2 years in Clovis and so we had to start with a quick trip there. Not much had changed except they now have fencing around the parking lot. A little strange because there isn’t gate, but maybe it’s needed when there is a big football game?
After visiting a few other favorites, we hit the road to Albuquerque. It is a 3.5 hour trip through very blank desert area. I’ve driven that road many times when I went to university in Portales, and it hasn’t changed much. Still felt like home.
In ABQ, we made a quick trip to Costco for steaks and wine, to the hotel to check in, then over to a friends house for a wonderful barbeque. I kind of invited myself to use his grill, but I don’t think he was too upset. Besides, there was wine. 🙂
Another wonderful night spent chatting with good friends. Always a pleasure to re-connect with good people and share some good times. Thankfully the years between the visits don’t seem to change us except for a few more wrinkles and grey hairs.
I am a little sad now because I don’t know if there will be any more friends I can connect with during this trip. We are also a little behind schedule and will be trying to make it up in the next few days. Still, it was worth every moment to spend the time with these great people.
Ciao for now.
